Preliminary exercise 4 :Analyzing Setting for National Lampoon European Vacation

Setting in a film is what establishes the mood by showing the audience the physical and emotional lives of characters. It refers to the time or place that the narrative occurs in .The key characteristics of a film are : Time period, location , climate /season , landscape , moral attitudes or codes of behavior ,culture , social and economical. Setting is an important Mise en scene element because it easily recognizes and makes it understood for what the director is intimating .The physical properties , along with the narrative , influence how the actors move , how the camera is placed.

Critical Reflection

The objective of this exercise is to analyze the setting for National Lampoon European Vacation. The type of media product our group created was a PowerPoint of the analysis for the short clip. In the clip portrayed Americans in Europe on a vacation .The Americans kept crashing into several European cars, bikes etc . While the Americans wrecked and apologized the Europeans were very king and told them it is no trouble .
