Introduction to Color in Film Preliminary Exercise Primary Colors


Color psychology is a complex subject that helps film makers in their productions . Primary colors include red, yellow, and blue. In film making , color theory refers to the notion that certain hues on the color wheel combine to create particular visual effects. Red usually represents love, death , danger, and courage . Also red can represent heat, activity , passion , sexuality , anger, love and joy. Yellow is usually associated with happiness and sunshine . Yellow can also be associated with deceit and cowardice. Yellow represents hope, happiness, and optimism of enlightenment and creativity , sunshine and spring . Blue is the color of the sky and often symbolizes serenity , stability , inspiration , or wisdom .
