Preliminary Exercise: Lightning

Image
Hey Cambridge, This week we touched on lightning in film. Film lightnings refers to the direction, quality source , or colour of light . These guide the audience's attention to create texture. or visual impact , and create atmosphere. This helps to communication . mood, the atmosphere, and help in telling a story. Light can sculpt and describe a scene or character. it can hide or reveal key areas of your frame, it can enhance suspense and evoke emotion. Six lightning techniques are natural light, key lightning, high key lightning, low key lightning, fill lightning, and back lightning. Natural lightning is one of the best and most used in lightning techniques in the filming industry today. Sunlight is a great example of natural light.  Key lightning is meant more to illuminate the form of the show's main actor. An example of key light is someone  using a flash as a source of light.  High key lightning refers more to the style lightning meant for television , photography or film.

Preliminary Exercise :Camera Movement Video Storyboard

Image
This week our teacher assigned us to do a camera movement video story board. Our object was to apply the key concepts of camera movement, shot sizes, angles, framing, and elements of mise en scene in preparation for their Opening Filming sequence. We came up with nine descriptions lines to demonstrate the application of the nine techniques . The descriptions had characters , an action and the setting . All members worked on the videos . The story line adhered to teen drama . A relationship between two individuals going through  rough edge of their relationship. Their mutual friend tries to break them up but in the end the couple is back together. This assignment was very fun to do . Portraying our storyboard to make video clips of us a proper introduction for our movie opening . I did the artwork and action lines . Also adhering to the genre and drawing the pictures was also amazing . This made making the videos much easier to make. This assignment also made to remember the terms and

Preliminary Exercise:Camera Movement Videos

Image
This week our teacher assigned us to produce a 3-7sec videos illustrating the six Camera Movement .Techniques selected by our group from the Camera Movement story board.Camera movement is a filmmaking technique that causes a change in frame or perspective through the movement of the camera .Each team member had a job description and demonstrated the skill and responsibility. Our team had to establish MISE EN SCENE Elements in the videos. MISE EN SCENE elements include setting, acting, set design , props, decor etc .When the videos were completed we had to upload them as a YouTube video to create links for each video . We all filmed the videos . I wrote the descriptions and action line. Reflection Paragraph The most uncomplicated camera technique demonstrating was Tilt. The most difficult was Pan movement .Working on vide production was one of the least difficult assignment . We all share video ideas to adhere to each camera movement  . We all used our phones to create our videos.  Duri

Preliminary Exercise:Camera Work Organizer

This week we touched on making a camera movement organizer. Camera work is the section of cinematography that refers to the way a camera shifts to visually narrate and shape a viewer’s perspective .All cinematographers and directors shift the audience’s view without cutting .A film making trend shaped by and reflecting time, people, culture, social norms, and political events of the location from which it emerged. Two famous film makers are Steven Spielberg and James Cameron .Three movies Steven made are Raiders of Lost Ark, Jurassic Park and Jaws.A scene  I loved from Jurrasic Park is when a character was captured from a high angle on the toilet, before the dinasour bit his head. The tracking movement was portrayed in this scene because the camera followed the dinosaur bit his head off. Three movies James Cameron made are The terminator, Alie, and Titanic. My favorite scene from Titanic was when they were on the ship and he chose her to stay and he let go. The dolly movement was portra

C ameras are all about capturing and recording an instant of time by creating some sort of chemical or electric reaction with the photons (light particles) beaming down or bouncing around in any given photographic moment. These instants of captured light are called   exposures , and are controlled by three major variables known as the   elements of exposure : aperture, length of exposure, and light sensitivity.   Aperture   refers to the amount of light blocked or allowed in by a mechanical diaphragm inside the camera’s lens. The larger the number on an aperture setting, the smaller fraction of light is allowed to the sensor. Length of exposure is calculated in seconds or fractions of a second; usually this is called   shutter speed , and controls how long light sensitive materials are exposed to the light.
